Okoa Kairetu

Wanja is a girl in her teens who held her first baby at 15 years. She is forced to drop out of school to take care of her baby. This makes her let go of her dreams and the desires she has in life. To raise her child, she is sometimes forced into commerical sex work, menial jobs and while at it, some men take advantage of her and she gets pregnant with her second child. Thinking she found a savior, she realizes she just will have to put up with the cycle of being a single teenage mother. She experiences stigma left, right and centre from family and community. She is branded as a lose girl.

Wanja is not just a name, this could be your sister, cousin or even yourself.

Together, through this campaign we hope to bring change in the community, bring hope to the Wanjas in our community through economic empowerment and psychosocial support.
