Women are powerful agents of change, and the far-reaching benefits of diversity and gender parity in leadership and decision-making are increasingly recognized in all spheres.
Still, women continue to be vastly under-represented in decision-making in politics, businesses, and communities.
Haven of Dreams has had a program to empower women and help address the challenge. The program is dubbed ‘Know Your Rights’.
The program seeks to create awareness to the community on the importance of women rights and empowerment to take up leadership positions within our community like in the Nyumba Kumi structure and the country at large through community barazas and local radio talk shows.
The program has reached over 400 community members both men and women drawn from Flamingo, FreeArea, Nyamarutu, Bondeni areas in Nakuru East Sub-County.
The program has been implemented through partnership and funding by Women Empowerment Link (WEL) and Equitas.
